Bowling tournament
Bowling has a long tradition at Bell, beginning in 1919 when Lewis Browne McFarlane, then President of Bell Canada and a beloved telephone pioneer, donated a trophy to the company's bowling league. More than 100 years later, Bell team members, pensioners and partners continue to play in the annual tournament, and many players in Toronto and Montréal play in Bell leagues.
2023 Tournament
Registration is open for new teams and for individual players looking to join a team. For those travelling, accommodation is available at an arranged group rate. Registered bowlers are entitled to attend all events including the tournament, Friday night mixer and banquet. Guests may attend all events, but may not participate in the bowling activities.

Registration
Registration for the McFarlane Tournament is on a pre-paid basis. All teams are required to submit their team line-ups and hotel requirements, and acquit the fees prior to the tournament.
Team captains can register the players on their team. Please send us an email and provide:
- The gender of each player on their team
- If players are retired
- If players fall under the Non-Bell Exception rule
- If there are guests
Player / Team Eligibility Criteria (updated 2023)
The McFarlane Bowling Tournament is open to all current and retired BCE employees.
- Exceptions: External partners that have participated in previous years are eligible to play.
- Non-Bell bowlers are welcome to play but will be disqualified from winning any individual trophies.
- Teams are made up of a minimum of 4 bowlers with one (1) non-Bell bowler allowed per game, if necessary.
- Individuals looking for a team may register as such and will be assigned a team by the Host Committee.
- The tournament consists of 5 games of 10-pin bowling.
- Registration fees are: Bowler $125 and Guest $100.
