Bell launches the HTC Raider 4G LTE on its expanded LTE network

MONTRÉAL, November 1, 2011 – Bell today announced the launch of the HTC Raider 4G LTE, the first LTE superphone available on Bell's quickly expanding next generation mobile LTE network.

"The HTC Raider 4G LTE is a strong addition to Bell's leading lineup of mobile devices operating on our world-leading broadband networks," said Adel Bazerghi, Senior Vice President of Products at Bell Mobility. "Built to take advantage of Bell's powerful new LTE mobile network, the HTC Raider also works seamlessly on the Bell HSPA+ network already covering more than 96% of the Canadian population."

Broadband LTE roll-out continues
Bell today announced the continued expansion of its LTE network to Halifax, Dartmouth and Belleville in addition to the LTE coverage launched first by Bell in Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph in September. Already providing maximum LTE download speeds of 75 Megabits per second (Mbps) with typical speeds ranging from 12 and 25 Mbps for fast access to the Internet, Mobile TV and other data-intensive applications, Bell's LTE network will ultimately deliver maximum download speeds as fast 150 Mbps.

With capital expenditures of approximately $3 billion per year, Bell is rapidly expanding Canada's communications infrastructure with ongoing fibre and mobile broadband rollouts. For more information about Bell's LTE network, please visit Bell.ca/LTE

The HTC Raider 4G LTE operates on LTE networks where available and on Bell's HSPA+ network outside LTE coverage areas, with speeds of 21 Mbps (typical 3.5 to 8 Mbps) for more than 96% of the Canadian population and up to 42 Mbps (7 to 14 Mbps) for approximately 70%. The superphone comes equipped with a cinematic 10.1 cm (4.5 inch) qHD display, well suited for watching Bell Mobile TV, which offers live access to top-rated programming from CTV, CTV Two, BNN, CTV News Channel, MTV and Asian Television Network and additional content from the Comedy Network, CBC and more. Customers can watch popular sporting events on TSN, TSN 2 and RDS including major league football, hockey and soccer.

Powerful dual-core processing enables HTC Raider users to run multiple apps simultaneously and render complicated graphics quickly.

Additional features include:

  • A 1080p camcorder, 8MP camera and HDMI connectivity
  • LTE capable Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity for up to eight devices
  • Wireless surround sound
  • Access to more than 250,000 apps from the fast-growing Android Market.
