Oct 19, 2011

MONTREAL, Oct. 19, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell today announced that it has introduced free high-speed Wi-Fi service on Saint-Laurent Boulevard between Sherbrooke Street and Mont-Royal Avenue. Accessible on laptops, smartphones or tablets, visitors to Saint-Laurent Boulevard will now be able to access the Internet from restaurants or cafés, while shopping or attending business meetings. This offering of free Wi-Fi is the result of a partnership between Bell and the Société de développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent (SDBSL).

"Bell is very pleased to expand our Wi-Fi network — already the country's biggest — to one of the most popular commercial districts in Canada," said Almis Ledas, Vice-President of Corporate Development for Bell Mobility. "This partnership between Bell and the Société de développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent makes the best network across Canada even better."

"This partnership will enrich the experience of thousands of visitors, workers and residents who all contribute to the energy and excitement of Saint-Laurent Boulevard, already known for its innovation in the fields of business, culture and entertainment. It is great news, and fits in with the constant evolution of Saint-Laurent Boulevard, a historical symbol of the development of Montreal," said Francis Blouin, Executive Director of the SDBSL.

Thirty minutes of Wi-Fi access will be offered free of charge every 24 hours for all network users, while Bell Mobility customers will have unlimited free access around the clock.

The addition of Saint-Laurent Boulevard increases Bell's lead as the operator of Canada's largest Wi-Fi network with more than 2,000 hot spots, including 1,000 McDonald's restaurants, 800 Starbucks locations and almost 100 Indigo-Chapters bookstores.
