Shediac residents can now join the thousands of New Brunswickers who have chosen FibreOP
Access to the fastest Internet upload and download speeds with best in-market TV product
SHEDIAC, NB, June, 8, 2011 2011 -- FibreOP expansion continues in New Brunswick providing an additional 3,600 Shediac customers with access to Bell Aliant's advanced fibre-to-the-home network. The additional $1.5 million investment announced today brings the overall FibreOP investment in the province to more than $80 million.
"We have a strong history of innovation in this province. We launched FibreOP in New Brunswick first almost two years ago, and we're proud to be further expanding in this province and providing the very best to even more customers," said Kelly Duplisea, VP FibreOP and TV. "Customers will experience Internet and TV to their full potential, whether it's for a school project, working from home or pure entertainment."
The first customers will come online later this month, with the build complete late July.
Earlier this year, Bell Aliant announced the next generation of Internet and TV service with FibreOP 2.0. With FibreOP Internet service customers can now upload as fast as you download - a first in Canada for any major service provider. FibreOP offers the fastest speeds in New Brunswick enabling customers to not only download music or movies and share video or photos faster than ever before, but also accommodate the growing need for multiple users within the home.
FibreOP 2.0 TV also provides enhanced functions and features for TV. This includes the Best Whole Home PVR, where one PVR powers the whole house. Customers can start watching a recording in one room and finish in another, including the capacity to record up to four shows at the same time. Customers can control their PVR from any location in the home. The new TV product also includes Best Whole Home HD, the Ultimate Video-on-Demand, and the Next Generation Interactive Guide, with easy-to-use features like picture-in-picture browsing and advanced search capability.
FibreOP services are available in Fredericton; Greater Saint John including Rothesay, Quispamsis and Grand Bay-Westfield; Greater Moncton including Dieppe and Riverview; and Bathurst. Miramichi will be available later this month.
Existing FibreOP Internet customers have been upgraded to the new FibreOP 2.0 Internet product with no additional fees or need for an equipment upgrade. Bell Aliant will also upgrade existing Bell Aliant TV customers and FibreOP TV customers to the new TV product over the coming months, at no extra cost to the customer, no change to existing equipment and no home visit.
Bell Aliant was the first company in Canada to cover an entire city with fibre-to-the-home, and the company will have invested almost half a billion dollars to extend FTTH to over 600,000 homes and businesses in the areas we serve by the end of 2012.
