The Bell 4G network begins operation in Escoumins and Bergeronnes

LES BERGERONNES, QC, March 28 2011 -- Bell today announced that the second wave in the deployment of its 4G wireless broadband digital network in the Escoumins and Bergeronnes sectors of the Haute-Côte-Nord RCM, first announced in April 2010, will begin operations this week.

"Bringing Bell Mobility's 4G network to Escoumins and Bergeronnes will offer our clients access to high-speed Internet and cutting-edge wireless voice and data transmission services — including access to the world's fastest broadband technology," said Mary-Ann Bell, Senior Vice-President, Quebec and Ontario, at Bell Aliant.

The project was launched in April 2010 by the AIDE-TIC (Agence interrégionale de développement des technologies de l'information et des communications), an organization created by the Fjord and Haute-Côte-Nord CFDCs (community futures development corporations). Execution of the project is taking place in collaboration with Bell Mobility.

Two new towers will provide cellular telephone and high-speed Internet access in these municipalities and on a long stretch of Route 138.

Two additional sites are to be launched progressively in the coming weeks: Longue-Rive in May, and Sacré-Coeur in summer 2011. The entire project will be completed by the end of the third quarter this year, giving the following municipalities access to the network: Petit-Saguenay, L'Anse-Saint-Jean, Rivière-éternité, Ferland-et-Boileau, Bégin, Saint-Honoré, Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Sacré-Cœur, Les Bergeronnes, Les Escoumins and Longue-Rive.
