Mark McDonald

EVP, Chief Technology Officer

Mark McDonald has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, leading network technology teams in Europe and North America. Appointed EVP and Chief Technology Officer at Bell Canada in May 2025, he is responsible for Bell’s network strategy and infrastructure and maximizing the potential of key technologies like 5G and fibre.

Mark joined Bell in 2015. In his roles as VP and SVP of Networks, Mark oversaw strategy, technology development, engineering, and operations of Bell's wireless, wireline, public safety networks, and IoT and device platforms across Canada.

Before joining Bell, Mark was employed by Nokia both in Europe and Canada with roles that included leading the wireless engineering and operations team for Canada, the wireless access and Core engineering team for Central and Eastern Europe, and a wireless engineering team for a large managed services engagement in Austria. He also held wireless engineering roles for leading operators in Europe, specifically Orange Belgium and Three Austria, part of the Hutchison Whampoa group.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering degree from Dublin City University (Ireland) and an MBA from the University of Warwick (UK). He also serves on the Ciena 5G advisory board.
